In the 1870s, artist Edgar Degas became absorbed by the idea of capturing and reproducing the soul of modern life. He opted in using the graceful, twisting movements and outstretched arms and legs of ballet dancers as subjects, and here seven young dancers fill the page with their pliés, lunges, and kicks.
